Concept description

My theme is "lotus." I will create four patterns based on the lotus flower, incorporating four of the five elements of Chinese philosophy—metal, wood, water, and fire—to complete this series of works. First, I choose the lotus flower because it has many beautiful meanings in China. Among them, "emerging from the mud and not being stained" resonates with me deeply. I chose metal, wood, water, and fire because in China, people believe that the five elements are essential elements of all things and are closely related to nature. Therefore, I combined these two aspects. This time, the style direction is to integrate these four elements into the lotus flower. Thus, you will see some characteristics of the elements on the lotus flower, while the surroundings will represent the respective elements. Oh, the pattern style I chose is a scattered one, rather than a neat one. I believe that nature is irregular and free-spirited, so I selected this style. Notably, in the pattern elements of the golden lotus, for the metal element, I chose a common Western pattern found on metals—the scroll pattern—as a blend of Eastern and Western styles.
